Meet the team

Suite101 is a place to publish, discuss and discover ideas on any topic. We are a community of passionate people – a network of writers, bloggers, experts, teachers, and all kinds of everyday savants sharing our knowledge, opinions and experiences.

We are a small, internationally diverse team team determined to make suite101.com a site people love and a great company to be a part of.

Based in downtown Vancouver (new digs in July!), we're well supported by a successful group of investors including Dr Boris Wertz and Munich-based Burda Digital Ventures, the venture capital arm of Hubert Burda Media.

  • Michael Kedda
    Michael Kedda General Manager

Michael is Suite101's new head honcho, having taken over from Peter Berger in December 2011. He served as Editor in Chief from April 2010.

Prior to joining Suite101, Michael led product, creative and editorial teams into or over some comparatively choppy waters: at the Symbian Foundation (as it began its open-source transition), Channel 4 (in the year of VoD), 3 (right in the beginning) and Amazon (just this side of the bubble).

In moments of relative freedom, he'll often be engaged in one or more of some fairly ordinary activities.

  • Cindy McGlynn
    Cindy McGlynn Senior Editor

Cindy McGlynn is a writer, editor and producer who spent 20 years investigating music, food, film, travel, and health. Currently a columnist for MovieEntertainment Magazine, Cindy has also been published in Variety, Eye Weekly and The Globe and Mail.

  • Jennifer Croll
    Jennifer Croll Head of Editorial

Jennifer heads up Suite101's editorial department. As you can probably guess, not a day goes by when she isn't thankful for her background in writing, editing, and cat herding. When she's not hunched over her laptop at Suite101 HQ, Jennifer does various normal-person-type activities, like running along Vancouver's seawall, watching live music, and drinking beer with her friends. She reviews the odd book here and there, too.

  • Brent Sedo
    Brent Sedo Senior Editor

Brent has been a member of the editing staff at Suite101.com since the relaunch of the website in January 2006. He was hired as the original Sports editor at that time, and added the History section to his portfolio in early 2007. Along with general Senior Editor duties, he is now charged with overseeing the Politics & Society, and Technology sections on Suite, as well as continuing in Sports and History.

  • Lisa Nichols
    Lisa Nichols Senior Editor

Lisa Nichols is a freelance writer and editor. Lisa has been published in regional, national and e-media magazines. She is also the author of the syndicated Rose City Journal blog, which appears on a variety of newspaper sites, including the Chicago Sun-Times.

  • Mia Carter
    Mia Carter Senior Editor

Mia Carter is an award-winning journalist and professional web writer. Mia served as the editor of the Wakefield Daily Times Chronicle for nearly a decade before beginning work as an editor and producer at Boston CBS affiliate WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

  • Stephanie Cebulka
    Stephanie Cebulka Community Manager

Stephanie is here to support, engage, and celebrate our community. When not at Suite she often hunts for vintage, vinyl, and paperback treasures. She likes pinball and her red typewriter. She’s interested in politics, sea monsters, good conversations, and the tiny weather patterns on the surface of her tea. She also likes tea.

  • Mike Kilinski
Mike Kilinski Head of Product Management

Mike is the door keeper, the bouncer, a one man think tank. He’s tasked with identifying and managing future products aimed to solidify Suite101 at the top of the food chain. He sports a background in Mechanical and Software Engineering, led three different software companies, and on occasion claims to have discovered the Higgs Boson particle.

  • BradZ
BradZ Director of Marketing & Advertising

Brad’s the Suite101 spinmaster and rainmaker. He talks about Suite101 with whoever will listen, and finds clever, as well as blatantly obvious, ways to keep the lights turned on. He’s a bit corporate, though has got a lovely singing voice and mad sink removal skills (image coming soon).

  • Rafe Hatfield
Rafe Hatfield Head of Product Development

Rafe keeps the plates a-spinning, all the while merrily humming the Mission Impossible theme in his head. Duh-Duh, Dun-da, Dun-Dun, Dah-Dah, Da-Da dun-, Da-Da Dun-, Dun-ah. Or some such. He is the token Aussie on the team and takes great delight in picking up where Paul Hogan left off, pointing out the many and varied ways his beautiful country has to kill and/or maim the unprepared.

  • Yuriy Babenko
    Yuriy Babenko Senior Developer

Yuriy is a seriously strong Drupal developer who's been working with the platform since D4 (a long, long time ago).

  • Sunny Gosal
    Sunny Gosal Designer

A lover and a fighter (of bad design). Sunny is the type of guy who owns books about fonts - a rare breed indeed. Sometimes known as “The Pastor” for his ability to marry form with function. Sunny is inspired by minimalism, Eastern philosophy and ambient music. Rumor has it that Photoshop starts automatically when his computer turns on...

  • Francois Magrangeas
    Francois Magrangeas IT Manager

Francois is the server keeper -- he takes care of them. He feeds the servers with updates, delivers shots to protect them from viruses and when necessary, gives them a hug to keep their systems happy and bug free. Francois isn't sad when the servers die --  he knows that they will be happy in cloud computing heaven.

  • Chad deGroot
    Chad deGroot Lead Drupal Architect

Chad is our new senior-level architect, helping to build a new baseline architecture for the new Suite101.
